The Bentley T Series made its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 1965. It marked a new stage in the brand's history. Its self-supporting body and independent wheels were significant advances, requiring the company to spend ten years redesigning the factory. Brakes are 4-wheel discs, with servo and triple circuit. Suspension springs are combined with electrically adjustable telescopic shock absorbers and automatic levelling. Under the hood of this Bentley T2 is a 6.75-liter V8 engine, hand-assembled as it should be. This "sufficiently" powerful engine is mated to a GM-sourced three-speed automatic gearbox.
Even if the Bentley T2 was extremely close to its cousin, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, acquiring such a car was a considered act. One could prefer Crew's brand for its glorious sporting past and discreet refinement, while at the same time flaunting one's difference.
This Bentley is a rare Model T in the T2 series, of which only 558 were produced, and as a car of American origin, it's an even rarer left-hand drive. It was registered in France in 2013 and had 75195 miles on the clock.
It is presented in its factory configuration: bodywork in an elegant dark green hue combined with an original Cognac-colored leather interior in good condition (except for the left rear headrest, which would need stitching), dark beige carpets and a ceiling stretched with woollen fabrics. The paintwork is old and has a few surface defects, but the bodywork is sound. A file of invoices from the Tisserand workshops testifies to ongoing maintenance since 2015. The 4 tires were changed that year at 70000 miles, and the wheels sandblasted and repainted in black Epoxy. The car is fitted with a Pioneer CD radio.
This sumptuous sedan, much rarer than its cousin the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, is a moving testimony to an era when people knew how to travel with class and distinction, without falling into glitz and ostentation. It comes with its on-board manual.
