1980 - LAND ROVER SANTANA SERIE III 109 - Lot 8
1980 - LAND ROVER SANTANA SERIE III 109
Spanish registration document
Chassis n°E60054181
- The epitome of an adventurer's vehicle, even Indiana Jones would dream of one...
- Long chassis version with 2.3L diesel engine and convertible bodywork
- Unbreakable car with only 40,000 certified kms!
- 9 seats, folding windshield, roof rack with ladder and hitch
This long-chassis Land Rover Santana Series III (109) comes from an olive grove in Andalusia, where it was used to transport personnel and equipment on dry, low-speed tracks. The climate in this region is very dry, which explains the good condition of the chassis and underframes, on which there is only very superficial rust in places.
This is a "convertible" version, powered by a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine, in its evolution with 5 crankshaft bearings (engine block in red), making daily use more pleasant than on previous generations fitted with a 3-bearing.
The car has clocked up 40317 kms, as attested by the periodic technical inspection of the registration document, which also specifies that it is a 9-seater. In fact, there are three seats in front and four small removable benches in the rear. It has no seatbelts, as it is registered in Spain as an agricultural vehicle, but it will be easy to have them fitted.
It features a removable hard-top with five windows, topped by a sturdy five-point roof rack with access ladder, and a fold-down galvanized steel windscreen. It also features optional heating.
The battery, brakes, servo-brake, hydraulic clutch control and headlight switchgear are all new, but the tires will have to be replaced for road use at a cruising speed of 80 km/h...
