When Jaguar unveiled its new flagship in 1968, the XJ6, powered by the company's traditional in-line six-cylinder engine, we began to dream of an even more prestigious engine under the hood designed by Sir Williams Lyons. In 1972, it became the world's only V12-powered sedan. From 1981 onwards, it was revolution under the hoods of the Jaguar XJ12 and the Daimler Double Six. In response to criticism, particularly of the V12's fuel-hungry nature, Jaguar radically reworked its flagship engine. The program includes new pistons, Fireball-May cylinder heads and almost 300 hp. These new V12s are labelled H.E. for "High Efficiency". The results were convincing, and the Jaguar XJ Series III V12 released in 1979 lasted until 1992, alongside the more modern XJ 40. The car for sale is an unusual Daimler Double Six, an even more exclusive version than its cousin the Jaguar XJ12. It is also an example of the third and most accomplished series of this prestigious model. Originally French, it was delivered by the Cannes dealer, Palace Garage, in September 1988. Always kept in France, its history is well known, and it has only been repainted once, even though it has just over 82200 kms. As a result, it is in an outstanding state of preservation! It features an electric sunroof, cruise control, fully functional air conditioning, trip computer, electric mirrors and fog lamps, as well as headlamp washers. The Pirelli P4000 tires were replaced in 2020 at 78,000 kms, and the automatic gearbox was rebuilt in 2022.
