1974 - Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer 710 M - Lot 69
1974 - Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer 710 M French registration Chassis no. 5752675 - A must-have military vehicle and petrol model - Same owner since 2001 and structurally sound - Maintained vehicle with 10650 kilometers on the clock - The satisfaction of being able to go anywhere in the world! The 4X4 military production sector is a niche market. Nevertheless, they are among the best off-roaders, capable of adapting to any climatic or geographical conditions, as they are designed to travel the world. Steyr-Puch is a manufacturer whose roots go far back in history, as the town of Steyr has been renowned for centuries for its weapons. In 1938, the Austrian arms manufacturer Steyr merged with the automobile manufacturer Puch, which had already merged with Daimler in 1928. The result was the Steyr-Daimler-Puch group, Austria's leading automotive manufacturer. At the outbreak of the Second World War, the group took part in the war effort, and the transport divisions assembled vans, trucks and troop carriers. After the war, Steyr-Puch remained a powerful group, continuing to invest in the armaments and transport sectors, partnering Fiat for a time. In 1969, the partnership was terminated for tax reasons, and Steyr-Puch turned to the manufacture of off-road vehicles. It was during this period that the Pinzgauer appeared, named after a sturdy breed of draught horse. This is an extreme vehicle designed to cross mountains. Its front engine, a four-cylinder air-cooled flathead, is not supported by a chassis, but by a central beam that integrates the differentials and axles. This vehicle is offered in gasoline and diesel versions, with 4 wheels for the 710 and 6 wheels for the 712. Countless body versions are available, and it has equipped the armies of many countries for decades, including the U.S. Army's famous Delta Force. Our Pinzgauer is a particularly impressive-looking vehicle. It's quite a rare machine in our country. It's a 710 M version, with a 2.5L four-cylinder petrol engine, 4-wheel drive and a two-door canvas body. It is configured for troop transport, with two rows of rear seats. Its French and German instruction plates suggest that it may have been a surplus vehicle for the Swiss army, where 4400 Pinzgauer served. Importantly, this vehicle, which entered service in 1974, is structurally sound and rust-free, which is remarkable for a vehicle of such proportions. In fact, it has just under 10650 kilometers on the clock. It has recently been serviced and the ignition wiring harness, spark plugs, fuel pump and coils have all been replaced. In order for this vehicle, which was sold without a technical inspection, to be used with peace of mind, work will have to be carried out on the exhaust and braking systems. The vehicle has been in the same hands for over 23 years, since its last owner acquired it on April 18, 2001, which is always reassuring when it comes to interest in a vehicle, and it has a French registration certificate. The Pinzgauer is a vehicle that has proved its worth in the world's greatest armies, and it fears nothing. In particular, it is a delight for extreme travelers, being capable of moving through the most demanding terrain on the planet, from the hottest deserts to crossing the highest mountains.
