Originally designed by Frua, the Quattroporte has always been synonymous with elegance and understated luxury. The fifth generation of the model was unveiled at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, this time designed by Pininfarina, and the formula is as successful as ever, with a design of great elegance, a powertrain as brilliant as it is sonorous, and a refined Italian finish. It was a real success for Maserati, with several thousand units sold, which led to the emergence of new competitors such as the CLS, Panamera and Rapide. It features Ferrari-Maserati's 430 hp, 4.7-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, directly derived from that of the GranTurismo S. This version also adopts the ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox, which is more modern and pleasant to drive than the previous DuoSelect transmission. The chassis is specially tuned with Skyhook pilot-controlled suspension, offering an excellent compromise between comfort and dynamism. The restyling features a redesigned front end, with a concave grille inspired by the GranTurismo and a modernized headlamp design, while retaining Pininfarina's elegant lines. With optimized weight distribution and a self-locking differential, the Quattroporte S boasts particularly well-balanced handling for a sedan of its size. The interior combines handcrafted luxury with a sporty ambience, featuring Poltrona Frau leather upholstery, precious wood inserts and typical Maserati instrumentation.
