Introduced in 1968, it retained the brand's traditional styling cues - split fenders, vertical grille and ash-wood structure - while incorporating the V8 engine that was to make its reputation. At its launch, the Plus 8 was equipped with the carbureted Rover 3.5 L V8, derived from the old Buick engine, which already offered very high performance thanks to the car's low weight. In the 1980s, the engine evolved with the adoption of electronic fuel injection (notably the Lucas system), improving both power and reliability. In the early 1990s, engine displacement gradually increased, with 3.9 L and then 4.0 L versions offering more torque and a smoother ride. In 1996, Morgan introduced the 4.6 L V8 with GEMS electronic management, marking the model's technical apogee with particularly muscular performance. Subsequently, some versions received fuel injection and electronic upgrades, notably to meet emissions standards in various markets. Despite these mechanical evolutions, the philosophy remains unchanged: a car that's light, powerful and very direct to drive. Produced until 2004 in this classic Rover V8 configuration, the Plus 8 remains a benchmark for lovers of roadsters with a raw, authentic character. It is also one of the most representative cars in terms of style, construction, power and positioning in the range, as well as being exclusive to the small English manufacturer.
